Gary Oldman was originally rumored to be cast, but was replaced by Kevin Kline
Synopsis
Follows Catherine Ravenscroft, a television documentary journalist whose work has been based on exposing the wrongdoings of long-respected institutions. When I started watching this AppleTV+ limited series starring Cate Blanchett and Kevin Kline, I had no idea what an experience I was in for.
It is basically a revenge story
"Disclaimer" based on Renée Knight’s novel of the same name, it was written for the screen and directed by Alfonso Cuarón. Blanchett stars as Catherine, a journalist whose secrets from her past emerge in a disturbing way, forcing her to confront that past as it destroys her entire life.
Blanchett is fantastic here, as always, and Kline gives a solid performance as well
It was a masterfully told story that takes us on a fascinating journey of discovery where the audience is shown (sometimes in vivid detail) the ‘events’; Catherine’s past. It was great to see Sacha Baron Cohen in a more serious role, but he did it right.
Note: There are some nice scenes of sex/intimacy in various episodes
A few/few niggles aside, I highly recommend this series if you like character dramas with some suspense/intrigue. It’s not action-packed and it took about half an episode (roughly 30 minutes) to finally get me “hooked”; to history.

But boy am I glad I stuck around.
