They essentially manage the land and secure the leases so they can drill for oil and gas. Like a foreman on a construction site, they build roads, workers’ quarters (human camp), oversee the assembly of excavators and the drilling of the well site itself, especially in remote locations. They are also part of the fixer, the problem solver and the facilitator..
Likewise, the roles of both his wife and daughter seem out of place in the series
For someone so focused on her goals, including an emotionally unstable one-woman circus undermines the show’s purpose entirely. It feels like her character detracts from the central narrative, adding unnecessary chaos rather than supporting his journey. The portrait doesn’t enhance the plot, but instead makes it hard to take his determination and focus seriously.
Rather than improving the plot or character dynamics, this approach seems like a superficial attention-grabbing tactic
The wife seems emotionally unstable, while the daughter seems to lack intellectual depth, making her contribution to the plot insignificant. The portrayal of the daughter seems particularly shallow, with her character offering little more than a superficial level of engagement that adds no value to the story. What’s more, these characters are constantly bouncing around in provocative clothing, seemingly with no purpose other than to draw in views, which doesn’t feel in sync with the tone of the series.
