Hippo explores the upbringing of two half-siblings: Hippo, a teenager addicted to video games, and Buttercup, a Hungarian Catholic immigrant who loves classical music and Jesus. Like the ancient Greek Aphrodite, Buttercup’s love is unrequited by her brother who prefers to indulge in the arts of war and chaos. The result is a tragicomic, hormone-fueled coming-of-age nightmare that you have to see to believe.
