Synopsis
Inspired by true stories and directed by Magnus von Horn, THE NEEDLE GIRL follows young factory worker Caroline (Vika Carmen Sonne) as she struggles to survive in post-war Copenhagen. Unemployed, abandoned and pregnant, she meets Dagmar (Trine Dyrholm), a charismatic woman who runs an illegal adoption agency and helps mothers find foster families for their unwanted children. With no other choice, Caroline takes on the role of wet nurse. A strong bond develops between the two women, but Caroline’s world is shattered when she discovers the shocking truth behind her job.
