The filmmakers used whatever was already available to them

Synopsis

After being resurrected by a sinister entity, Art the Clown returns to the quiet town of Miles County, where he targets a teenage girl and her younger brother on Halloween night. The haunted house scenes were filmed at a real haunted house called the Fright Factory in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Art’s favorite acid is fluoroantimonic acid, which he keeps in a clear glass vial. It is a super acid that can dissolve even glass.

Art the Clown:

There is a scene in a mental hospital featuring Chris Jericho as security guard Alan Burke and Leah Voysey as a nurse. The German DVD and Blu-ray releases from Tiberius Film are shortened by about three minutes to ensure their “Not for Under 18s” rating (this was necessary because the guidelines for video releases are stricter than for theatrical releases). Basically, all scenes of violence were shortened to tone down the violence. Nameless Media’s 4K Ultra-HD Blu-ray Mediabook releases are completely uncut and receive a slight nod from SPIO/JK.

The Equalizer (Not Alone) Written by Tim McEwan and Tyler Lyle (as Jamison Tyler Lyle) Performed by The Midnight Courtesy of BMG Platinum Songs U.S. (IMC). Like the original, ‘Terrifier 2’ is a tasty treat for fans of extreme gore and ’80s horror throwbacks. It unapologetically marches to its own beat, treading the line between thoughtful and exploitative.

Some have declared Art the Clown this generation’s “Freddie” Terrible 2 also benefits from a fun supporting cast and a strong lead

And beyond the lousy practical effects (which are taken to the next level), it has what’s been missing from most genre offerings lately: a wicked sense of humor. The teenage characters, while disposable, are admittedly less annoying than in many modern horror films, and I was legitimately upset when several of them meet gruesome deaths. The film shifts gears around the 2-hour mark, introducing a new plot development that proves truly mind-boggling and may leave some viewers with a bit of a chip on their shoulder (though I’m sure Leone has his reasons and the payoff will be worth it). Fortunately, the film establishes an internal logic early on, so that when the film goes into full-on surreal mode, viewers are more inclined to suspend their disbelief.

The tone is less “Hostel” and more “Evil Dead” or “Troma Films” in my opinion

Minor gripes aside, Terrifier 2 holds up well and would make an ideal midnight double bill with its predecessor. I suspect everyone involved in its production had a blast making it, as did its target audience. *****Final Note: If you’re worried that the gore factor might be too much to handle, I will say that the kills are so extreme and over-the-top that they often feel more suited to a cult horror/comedy than your standard torture porn.
