Eventually, Goldstein spoke to Ford and sold him on the role
Synopsis
A grieving therapist starts telling his clients exactly what he thinks. Ignoring his training and ethics, he finds himself making huge changes in people’s lives – including his own. The film’s “Shrinking” shares the key moments that defined their characters in Season 1 and reveals who has the best impression of Harrison Ford, who wanted a “Harrison Ford-type” and was going to audition with people like Ford. Segel told Goldstein that they should at least bring it to Ford first because he thought he would immediately turn it down, but at least other people would hear that Harrison Ford had brought the project, which sparked interest from other notable actors.
And Jessica is perfect
Goldstein still doesn’t understand what he did to convince him, but he was thrilled nonetheless. And the rest of the performance is great, too. Jason Segel is perfectly cast in this script. She has the weird, idiotic, confident energy that’s needed for this role.
You lose your license immediately
Her humor is just right for the dialogue. It’s a new way of looking at the situation. No real punchlines, just engaging personalities with a touch of quirkiness, and family circumstances that are just a little bit over the line, but still relatable. Of course, Jimmy’s behavior as a therapist is completely absurd.
For me, it’s easy and fun
Just impossible. But we allow metaphorical situations in drama. And in this script, we feel a strong sense of purpose in the decisions. We have to give the writers the edge and try to get to the point.
