For starters, it’s a good, solid serial killer series
A series adaptation of James Patterson’s novel about the complex and brilliant detective Alex Cross. Hodge is the third actor to play Cross, following in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first played him on screen in 1997’s Kiss the Girls and again in the 2001 sequel Along Came a Spider; and Tyler Perry as the title character in 2012’s Alex Cross, which flopped at the box office and prompted Lionsgate to scrap a planned sequel, Double Cross.
So I’ve had that
But I think it’s a poor cousin to Idris Elba’s British Luther. Both he and Cross are touted as having extraordinary powers of psychological analysis.
In Cross’s case, you don’t
In Luther’s case, you have that. Only twice in eight episodes does he show that whole “spider sense” and provide analysis that others simply don’t see.
And the last point is Iasiah Mustafa
Then there’s the insignificant acting of some of the main actors. Their scenes just don’t do justice to the great acting of the main characters.
Enjoyable series, but I think Luther does it better
In this series he’s a carbon copy of Andy Farrell, the coach of the Irish rugby team. One is black and the other is white, but man, the resemblance is uncanny!
