For anyone who loves the cat and mouse game of espionage, The Agency is for you
Former CIA Counterintelligence Director James Jesus Angleton, also known as the “poet spy,” described the intelligence game as the “Wilderness of Mirrors,” a phrase borrowed from a poem by T.S. Eliot titled Gerontion (the title is Greek for “little old man,” and the poem is an interior monologue about an older man’s opinions and impressions of post-World War I Europe through the eyes of a man who lived most of his life in the 19th century). In the world of intelligence, in search of truth, it is difficult to distinguish reality from its reflection, an illusion, if you will, as if one were in a “Hall of Mirrors.” Appearances on The Graham Norton Show: Cher/Keira Knightley/Michael Fassbender/Josh Brolin/Jalen Ngonda (2024).
Both are incredibly underrated actors
It’s not the best spy series I’ve seen, but it’s definitely worth watching. Michael Fassbender is perfect for this role, as is Jeffery Wright. Add Richard Gere and Katherine Waterston and you have one of the most talented casts on TV.
I hope we get a few more seasons of this show
The show may start off slow for some, but stick with it because it picks up speed. It just needs time to build its world and its characters, but if you don’t have the patience for slow, well-told shows, this isn’t for you. The Agency does a great job of showing the costs and sacrifices it takes to be in this industry.
