, despite Lego and Warner Bros
Synopsis
A vivid journey through the life of Pharrell Williams, told through the lens of LEGO animation. Animal Logic, who animated the previous four Theatrical Lego Movies, did not return to animate the film because it was believed to be cheating Warner Bros. sharing the rights to the original franchise. Instead, animation was done at Pure Imagination Studios in Los Angeles and Zebu Animation Studios in India. Both Pure Imagination and Zebu had previously recreated the style of the original film series through theme park attractions, PSAs, and The Simpsons (1989) episode “Brick Like Me (2014)”. The opening credits feature the logos of Universal Pictures, Focus Features, Tremolo Productions, and the Lego Group made from Lego bricks.
Nothing else drew me to this movie like LEGO

It’s Happening Written by Pharrell Williams and Shelly Berg Starring Pharrell Williams Courtesy of Columbia Records/Sony Music Entertainment. 6.6/10 (Recommended, but not in theaters) This is mostly a family-friendly movie because it’s a LEGO movie, but it’s definitely not really family-oriented. I like Pharrell Williams’ music, but not someone I want to hear or see. I like the style he chose to use in telling his life story. Like The LEGO Movie, you can create whatever you want with any imagination you can think of, but despite the shiny set pieces and catchy tunes that some of us would recognize, it still falls flat.
So I learned something
I don’t think this biopic is a “woah that’s me”; The story is despite the riches perspective, but the way things are told, you don’t really feel the hardships Pharrell went through to make it big. The movie is not a complete waste of time. I never realized how big Pharrell was in music. Making music for artists like Snoop Dogg, Jay Z, Gwen Stefani, and Justin Timberlake to name a few. I would definitely watch this movie once, but I wouldn’t see it in theaters if I could go back. Overall, it’s a 90-minute superficial story that only gives a small amount of information about the journey Pharrell takes.
Ultimately, though, Pharrell’s influence is undeniable
It’s big. It definitely has a "go after what you want" subplot, but you also have to work hard. It’s a brilliant movie that uses LEGO, but it never strikes an emotional chord. I don’t recommend seeing it in theaters or as a family (unless you like the musical genre). There’s only one swear word in the movie, but it’s mostly there, maybe three times. He’s been involved in some of the greatest songs I’ve ever heard, but he’d never put it together.
