Megatron’s original name, D-16, is a reference to the Japanese serial number of the original Generation 1 Megatron toy released by the Takara company in 1984
Synopsis
The untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, best known as sworn enemies but once friends united as brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever. Chris Hemsworth, Keegan-Michael Key, Brian Tyree Henry, and director Josh Cooley debate the true identities of the Transformers and share what made them excited to undertake the journey to Cybertron. The letter D is short for Destron, the Japanese name for the Decepticons used in older media, while the number 16 denoted the original Megatron toy as the sixteenth release in the Japanese toy line. When the Iacon 5000 contestants transform for the race, a purple jet-powered Transformer already has a pair of red light effects floating behind its back, attached to nothing, before it turns into a jet.
Shockwave: He wouldn’t stop talking
Elita-1: Why is B the only one who transforms into a jet? gagged? Elita-1: Even when he was unconscious? Shockwave: ESPECIALLY when he was unconscious!.

There are two scenes worth staying for in the credits. One is mid-credits, featuring Badassitron, and the other is of Megatron at the end of the credits. Several international releases of the film (including the UK) are edited to cut out Orion’s “finger transformation” from a few seconds early, as well as changing any mention of Bee’s “knife hands” to refer to them as “sword hands” instead. It’s perhaps likely that Paramount pre-cut the film for said territories.

High-octane, hilarious, and most importantly, emotionally deep action with its themes of friendship + layers of social hierarchy bringing some eye-opening pieces of the Transformers universe to life! It’s good. Very different than anything we’ve seen on the big screen.
This is more than meets the eye!
I’m going to need to watch it a few more times. I’m really excited to see what direction this takes the franchise in! The animation is truly epic, with visuals that are more than meets the eye. The star-studded cast took it out of the galaxy with all the action, emotion, heart, and humor, making this the Transformers movie we’ve all been waiting for!
